Layer Select
At the centre of Ixora, the layer selector determines which of six material slots supplies the next fragment. Add Chaos or modulate the selection over time to create complex soundscapes.

Load a sample, explore its fragments, and build new textures from it. Six layers and flexible modulation give you room to experiment, with detailed control when you need it.

At the centre of Ixora, the layer selector determines which of six material slots supplies the next fragment. Add Chaos or modulate the selection over time to create complex soundscapes.

The workbench is where you inspect and shape your materials. Use Probe and Magnify to choose which part of a sample is decompiled by the Fracture Engine. Familiar grain controls are at your fingertips, and each material layer can be configured independently.

The Fracture Engine is built for performance. Its macros bring the main parameters of all materials together, so you can play and reshape the sound without adjusting each layer individually.

Add up to eight modulators and edit their shapes or random behaviour. Trigger modulation at grain birth to give each fragment its own values, or let it evolve throughout a grain’s lifetime. Vary pitch, spread grains across the stereo field or move their sample positions.

The Grain Cloud visualises the recompiled fragments, showing each grain as part of the combined output from your materials. It also gives you control over the overall grain shape, playback direction and stereo width.

Beta builds are unsigned. Manual installation approval may be required.
Ixora started with a simple idea: I wanted to build a synth that brings together some of my favourite ways of working with sound, in an interface that feels natural and intuitive. Something that makes sound design feel less like a technical process and more like exploration.
I've always been drawn to instruments that inspire unexpected results while still offering precise control when I need it. Ixora is designed to make it enjoyable to break a sound apart, explore its fragments and recombine them into something new. Even a kick drum can become a whole world of sounds.
